Record Keeping

Hello folks,

Just wandering if anyone knows how long the CAA would keep records for colour testing? I failed the CAD back in 2013. Now that 11 years have passed, if I was to do the CAD again, would they average it with the results from 2013?

Thanks in advance.

Excellent, my class 2 ran out in 2015. I can check, but I think the renewal date was in April. I’m hopeful that we will see change soon with the CAA.

Thanks for the reply.

Progress in Australia towards the new ACVA! https://consultation.casa.gov.au/regulatory-program/cd-2404fs/

With consultation on the proposed AOCVA closing just over a week ago, here’s an update on what we know.

The CASA consultation results are out which are very supportive of the AOCVA.

To the best of our knowledge, CASA are continuing to operate to the goal of having the proposed instrument finalised by early May.

The Technical Working Group (TWG) that provided input into the proposed AOCVA will meet in the coming week to review the feedback that came out of the consultation process. A huge shout out to everyone who provided feedback as part of this process.

All signs continue to point to this moving forward in a timely way, but let’s not lose sight until we reach the finish line!

More updates to follow as we find out more.

EFIS evaluation

Does any one know of a facility that could test to provide evidence that you can capture the same information from an EFIS as a trichromatic pilot with normal colour vision?

It might allow me do a BIR if I can show this.

Hello Kieran

I can get you access to a 737-800 fixed based sim. Our panel was also looking at investigating into a similar project , using reaction times and eye tracking software to collect the data but its at the idea stage at the moment.

Feel free to send me an email at ecdaa.info@gmail.com. we can discuss this in more detail.

I would be interested to hear your ideas on this.

Any news?

Hi!

After the frustrating result from PMQs we got back in March, I wondered if there were any updates on what's happening next, and if there's anything we can do to help? I still think about it every day and it frustrates me so much.

On a more positive note however... Here's a nice picture from the air a few days ago, perfect conditions! I'm nearly 20 hours into my PPL 😊

A very interesting video with Dr Arthur Pape , answering all the questions about the CAD test , the Fedex accident and why we need a practical colour vision assesment for pilots around the world.
