Hi my name is Brad and I'm 23 years old, I'm looking for some help and advice from anyone that might know more about me on this particular matter. I have failed the cad test, nagel anomalascope and the holmes wright lantern tests. I'm now seriously considering starting a new life in Australia but I'm a bit unsure on were to start. I have never been to Australia so I was thinking of travelling there first on a working holiday visa to get a feel and understanding of what it would be like to live and work there before jumping into any flight training. I also don't know if I would pass CASA colour vision requirements as I've never done there colour assessment before. Thanks

@runway37 Thanks for the information mate that doesn't sound too bad, do you know if the occupation of being a pilot such as a flight instructor, charter or airline pilot currently comes under skilled work for any Australian visa? If so are you able to travel to Australia to undertake the necessary flight training to do said occupation. It does say on their website that it is classed as a skilled occupation is that correct then?
Hey mate,
Nic here from Australia, at the moment unfortunately there’s been hold up with Australias OCVA guideline and is unable to be accepted at this stage however is looking to be back in full swing later this year. basicially For the OCVA test you must prove in several situations that you would be capable of flying an aircraft safely as a “colour normal” would. It is not at all hard but it is expensive, I’d recommend getting 5-10 hours and maybe the Navigation/AGK(systems) and meteorology exams as that helps in understanding it. As for moving to Australia some European countries are able to get the working visa you are right there. To the best of my understanding it’s for 3 years providing you work in an approved job for a period of time i believe it’s 3 months for 2 years and 6 for 3 years. Id recommend if you have the funding doing a bachelor of aviation that includes the training, then you can get a study Visa.
I hope this helps and Goodluck with your travels and aviation career!
